They wanted to see whether an electric vehicle could feed electricity back to the grid. The company’s president, Tom Gage , dubbed the system “vehicle to grid” or V2G. And EV owners would become entrepreneurs, selling electricity back to the grid. And indeed, that’s how promoters of vehicle-to-grid technology perceive the EV.

Unlike those you may have grown accustomed to seeing, many of these stations don’t just charge electric cars—they can also send power from vehicle batteries to the local utility grid for use by homes and businesses. Debates over the feasibility and value of such vehicle-to-grid technology go back decades. This is good for the grid.

The LCFS requires oil producers, importers and other fuel providers gradually to reduce, on a full-fuel lifecycle basis, the carbon intensity (CI) of their transportation fuel mix (measured in gCO 2 e/MJ) by from 0.25% in 2011 to 10% by 2020. However, the Raizen COPI mill exports surplus co-generated electricity to the public grid.

The Leaf models were used as portable power stations , with enough juice to power the average Japanese home for four days, power 6,200 smartphones, or run 100 elevator round trips in a 48-story building. .

Vehicle to Grid (V2G) technology is a bi-directional electric grid interface that allows a plug-in to take energy from the grid or put it back on the grid. Smart Grid City will use a realtime high-speed two-way communication throughout the distribution grid. Smart meters and substations will be integral.

A simple, clean, efficient EV that wont run out of juice because of its on-board gas generator. Deliveries start in 2011. Notice in [link] that GM carefully avoids claiming to reduce CO2 by shifting to the grid, but leads people off the track by focusing on smog related issues. Oh, and it looks wayyyyy cooler than the Volt.
