Poole, UK-based Continental Landscapes has contracted for four battery-electric Ford Transit-based light commercial vehicles from Carillon Fleet Management: two 4.6-tonne A 90 kW induction motor delivers a top speed of up to 50 mph. Ford and Smith announced a collaboration on all-electric light commercial vehicles in 2008.

The top speed has been limited to 80 km/h (50 mph) due to the vehicle’s typical areas of application and to give the van as long a range as possible. It was also the first European company to develop an Environmental Charter, which sets out measurable goals and which was certified by Bureau Veritas in 2008.

In parallel, Alstom and EasyMile have signed a commercial partnership agreement aiming at joining their forces to provide integrated solutions for urban transportation. The EZ10 is manufactured by French light weight automobile maker Ligier. Ligier has marketed electric vehicles since 2008.

Italy-based Micro-Vett SpA, which produces electric versions of several other Fiat vehicles, has developed an electric version of the 500, unveiled by the NICE car company in 2008. Featuring a 22 kWh Li-ion pack and a 30 kW, 100 N·m drive motor, the Micro-Vett electric 500 has a range of 145 km (90 miles) and a top speed of 114 km/h (71 mph).
