We can dump both Killer Coal and Big Oil by generating our electricity with solar panels and charging your electric car with the all clean, all green energy from the sun.

In late 2008, BYD started selling the first production PHEV in China. First Escape PHEV delivered to SCE Nov 2007; 20 in 2008-2009. Beginning in 2005, we excerpted individual statements of intentions by carmakers, but by the start of 2008, the number of comments became too numerous for us to track. Batteries not ready.

Much as I admire the Obama administration’s energy and environment team, there’s no way that the U.S. Li Lu has agreed to come to FORTUNE’s Brainstorm Green conference next week to talk about BYD. On the downside, it’s hard to know whether BYD has a strong bench of managers behind Mr. Wang. China’s commitment to clean energy.
