Audi''s Gen 2 3.0L Audi of America introduced four new TDI clean diesel models for the US market this year—the Audi A8, A7, A6, Q5—along with an updated Q7 TDI, all equipped with a second-generation 3.0L V6 TDI diesel engine. TDI clean diesel represents almost 25% of Audi and Volkswagen US sales.

In Europe, diesel car registrations fell by 7.9% Gasoline car registrations benefited from the decline of diesel, growing by 10.9% (+760,000 units) to a 50% market share; SUVs led growth with a record 4.56 when compared to 2016 and the highest volume of registrations since 2007 when 16.02 higher than in 2016.

Bosch’s analysis of Polk data shows the average percentage of registrations for cars with clean diesel engines were: Audi A3 TDI: 20%.

Audi has unveiled the new-generation Audi A4 and A4 Avant, developed with a high priority on the reduction of CO 2 emissions. TFSI based on Miller cycle, introduced by Audi earlier this year at the Vienna Motor Symposium. All engines comply with the Euro 6 emission limits, so that the TDI has been labeled a clean diesel.
