Last month, they recorded the lowest monthly market share since September 2000. The figures for Q1 provide a broader snapshot into the downward trend, with only 6 countries recording growth.

In 2005, DENSO introduced an electric compressor, jointly developed with Toyota Industries Corporation, that incorporated an inverter to drive the built-in motor. DENSO’s segment conductor wiring method, which was developed for alternators in 2000, also reduced the size of the built-in motor.

I f there is any doubt that GM is serious about PHEVs, here is one more story that indicates that they are indeed very serious. Bloomberg, citing anonymous sources, reported Wednesday that first year sales of the automaker's plug-in hybrid could quadruple that of the Toyota Prius' U.S. 23, 2007 -- General Motors Corp.

Toyota’s first Plug-in Prius to Use NiMH Toyota is postponing its Lithium Priuses and rolling out a few NiMH plug-in Priuses for testing purposes. Perhaps Toyota’s battery division is having problems.

As Toyota learned with the introduction of the Prius and its efforts on the 2002 RAV4 EV, O’Brien said, it is difficult to force technology adoption by consumers.
