Ensyn Fuels, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ensyn Corporation, has signed a contract with Memorial Hospital of North Conway, New Hampshire for the supply of RFO (Renewable Fuel Oil), Ensyn’s advanced cellulosic biofuel. Ensyn has initiated the generation and sale of its first RINs (Renewable Identification Numbers) under the US Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS2) ( earlier post ); Ensyn’s D7 cellulosic RINs have received QAP certification. Rhode Island’s 2033 deadline comes in the form of a renewable energy standard, setting a goal that electricity providers must meet by collecting a certain number of certificates. New Mexico could potentially shape a renewable energy supply from its bountiful sunlight. Rhode Island’s policy does leave some room for improvement.

A LCFS (Low Carbon Fuel Standard) program is a market-based, fuel-neutral program to address the carbon content of fuels. This policy will allow the fuel industry flexibility to determine when and where new infrastructure can be introduced most efficiently, such as use of electric vehicles or additional supplies of liquid low carbon fuels.
