We’ve now got some Mo going with: California solar loan financing that will eliminate the big up front cost of solar. With the coming solar feed-in tariff legislation moving through Sacramento that will pay us for the extra solar energy we produce and feed back into the grid.

I attended the Southern California Edison’s free Solar session for homeowners last night. After my volunteer stint was over I stayed for the presentation and workshop. Overall it was a good workshop with lots of solid basic information for people who don’t know much about solar but are considering a solar electric system.

And what it takes is a week of reviewing the six hours of taped presentations and all the PowerPoints and related links from the April 29 California Energy Commission’s AB 811 Staff Workshop. All the more reason you should be going solar and produce your own clean, green energy instead of paying the electric company.

And the work they’re doing brings California’s leading edge fight against global warming right into my neighborhood and into my home. With my interest in installing solar on my roof I’ve been closely watching their approach and frankly wishing my own city of Torrance was following their lead.

New vehicles to be deployed include 55 CNG vehicles, 363 propane vehicles, 89 hybrid electric vehicles, and 56 neighborhood electric vehicles. Additionally, workshops will be made available to truck operators and technicians working on LNG trucks. Total DOE award: $12,975,388.
