Land Rover presented its Range_e development model at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this week. This development model features a plug-in hybrid diesel-electric powertrain that Land Rover expects to make available in future production models, following the scheduled launch of its diesel-electric hybrid in 2013.

The XJ_e plug-in hybrid. Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) will display the XJ_e plug-in hybrid engineering research vehicle at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The XJ_e demonstrates how an advanced parallel plug-in hybrid design can deliver reductions in CO 2 emissions of more than 70%, without compromising vehicle performance.

Jaguar expects the C-X75 to deliver CO 2 emissions of less than 99 g/km while being able to achieve in excess of 200 mph. The engine will be mounted low in the car for optimum weight distribution and to retain the concept’s silhouette, said Bob Joyce, Group Engineering Director, Jaguar Land Rover.
