In recuperation, the electric motor functions as a generator to recharge the battery pack when the driver takes his or her foot off the gas pedal. The test will run in 5 phases of 12 weeks each, with users sought with a daily commute of 40–100 km (25-62 miles).

The feedback from customers testing the MINI E and the BMW ActiveE will be fed directly into series production of the MCV, which the BMW Group will be launching under a new sub-brand in 2013. The permanent-magnet synchronous motor and the power electronics of the BMW ActiveE were developed entirely in-house.

When’s your affordable EV that gets 1oo mile range on a quick charge Ford? They delivered the cars late, they screwed up the installation of the proprietary charging stations at the homes of lessees and they restricted the range and the easy chargeability of the vehicles. Really Ford? The “new&# Ford Taurus?

Both ministers drove a MINI E electric car at the event as they announced plans to support motorists by providing help worth £2000-£5000 towards buying their first electric or plug-in hybrid car when they hit the showrooms.
