At the Geneva Motor Show this week, Mercedes-Benz is unveiling two new preproduction models that combine the new OM 654 four-cylinder diesel engine with the latest-generation 9G-TRONIC 9-speed hybrid transmission. This is made possible in the third hybrid generation also by the new lithium-ion battery, which can store 13.5 ECO Assist.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive. At the Paris Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz introduced the production of the SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive ( earlier post ). Top speed (electronically limited) is 250 km/h (155 mph). The liquid-cooled lithium-ion high-voltage battery features a modular design and a maximum voltage of 400 V.

Mercedes-Benz is presenting its first electric vehicle with Range Extender at the 2011 Frankfurt International Motor Show: the Concept B-Class E-CELL PLUS. Equipped with a Li-ion battery pack from Deutsche Accumotive (a joint venture of Daimler and Evonik), the E-CELL PLUS has a battery-only range of up to 100 km (62 miles).
