I think we have 22 or 24 buses in the San Diego area, and we have another deployment underway in the Los Angeles Unified School District, where we are initially deploying 24 as well. Those districts are tax-exempt organizations, therefore they have access to attractive loans. Those are some of the good use cases.

The Mirai has had only a little competition Along with the Mirai, the Hyundai Nexo FCEV (and its predecessor, the Hyundai Tucson FCEV ) has been on sale in California since around 2016 and makes-up a part of the total 18,025 FCEVs sold in California. With a home charger and solar panels, the cost to charge an EV would be even less.

Minus three when people realize that there already are cars like that: The Swatch Car, Hyundai Getz, i10, etc. Not everyone wants to get hot and sweaty to go to a restaurant, and parking is such an issue in downtown Los Angeles (and Beverly Hills) that buses are almost tolerable. Im astonished at the negativity here.

The high cost of manufacturing the Volt is exactly why the tax credits of $2500 for a vehicle with 4 kWh of battery capacity and $417 for every kWh over 4 (so that there is a $7500 credit for the Volt) were legislated.
