LG Magna e-Powertrain, the Joint Venture (JV) between LG Electronics (LG) and Magna (Magna) formed in 2021 ( earlier post ), announced at IAA Mobility 2023 that it is expanding its footprint with a new facility in Miskolc, Hungary. This new facility seeks to amplify the growth of LG Magna e-Powertrain in the Europe-an market.

the Japan-based parent company of the specialty chemicals manufacturer Toyo Ink Group, announced the official opening of a new wholly-owned manufacturing subsidiary, Toyo Ink Hungary LLC, in Ujhartyan in Pest County, Hungary. Mass production at the Ujhartyan Factory, which employs 30 people, started in July 2022.

Samsung SDI has completed construction of its electric vehicle (EV) battery plant in Hungary. Through construction of the Hungary plant, Samsung SDI sets up a global electric vehicle batteries production tripod with plants in Ulsan, South Korea and Xian, China.

SK Innovation has decided to spin off its battery production and exploration & production (E&P) business as independent companies. South Korea-based SK On (SKO), a global EV battery manufacturer, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Australia’s Global Lithium Resources to explore future business opportunities together in regard to stable supply of lithium. Incorporated in 2018, Global Lithium was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange last year.

Up to now, SKIET has been supplying separators for IT and electronic products to the Sunwoda Group. Last year, it went public on the SIX Swiss Exchange, and the company is actively preparing to enter the European market, with plans including building a battery facility in Hungary. SKIET has factories in South Korea, China, and Poland.
