While people can purchase neighborhood electric vehicles today for about $10K, they only have a top speed of 35 miles an hour or so, essentially glorified golf-carts. With rising gasoline prices, I believe the demand for freeway capable electric vehicles is going to increase over the next few years.

The production of Neighborhood Electric Vehicles and electric bicycles is picking up. ZENNs and Miles Motors and scaled down pickups and jeeps from companies I'd never heard of. Honda with the remaining CNG vehicle from a major and two hydrogen fuel cell cars. I hope to find out more tomorrow. A few bio-cars were there.
