PowerCell in EU project to develop and operate a refuse truck with fuel cells

PowerCell Sweden AB will participate in an EU project that will develop and operate a refuse truck with fuel cells for Renova AB, western Sweden’s leading environmental enterprise within recycling and waste management. Renova’s end customer, the City of Gothenburg, wants to increase testing of fuel-cell-powered refuse trucks.

Swedish Energy Agency grants PowerCell $1.4M loan for the development of next-generation fuel cell APU system

PowerCell selected an Auto Thermal Reactor (ATR) technology to evaporate (not combust) the diesel and extract hydrogen-rich gas with gas purity well within the limits of what a low temperature PEM fuel cell can support in terms of CO. Downstream, sulfur is trapped and carbon monoxide is cleaned up while the hydrogen content is enriched.

HYBRIT JV planning to begin building demo plant for fossil-free steel in 2023

Consultations have begun for deciding on placement of the plant in Norrbotten, Sweden. In Luleå, the pilot plant for fossil-free steel will be fully constructed during the summer, and preparations are also under way to initiate construction of a temporary hydrogen store in order to test the technology for storing hydrogen in caverns.

HYON receives PILOT-E funding for two zero-emissions maritime projects using fuel cells and green H2
