GM is bringing back the Hummer brand as an EV within the GMC brand. The Chevrolet Volt was a purpose-built plug-in hybrid, with an electric motor driving the car and a small gas engine that charged the small battery when it was depleted. The Trends report has been published annually since 1975 and covers all passenger cars, sport utility vehicles, minivans, and all but the largest pickup trucks and vans. In MY 2013, Mazda had the lowest fleet-wide adjusted composite CO 2 emissions and highest adjusted fuel economy performance, followed by Honda and Subaru.

The 2025 Volkswagen ID.Buzz electric minivan has been coming to North America for a long, long time. It’s longer than the one sold in Europe, has a genuine third row of seats, a larger battery and a more powerful motor, and available all-wheel drive. That put it squarely in competition with segment leaders Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V.
