Volvo Cars has published a lifecycle analysis report on its second fully electric car, the C40 Recharge, which shows the potential CO 2 reductions if a car is built and charged using clean energy sources. However, a significantly lower carbon footprint is achieved when charging the car with renewable electricity, such as wind power.

Volvo Cars will introduce a front-wheel drive (FWD), 3-cylinder engine variant of its Twin Engine plug-in hybrid electric vehicle system in 2018, followed by its first production battery-electric vehicles and a new 48V mild hybrid system in 2019, according to Mats Anderson, Senior Director of Electric Propulsion Systems.

The new Volvo S90 comes equipped with an advanced semi-autonomous drive feature, Pilot Assist. Pilot Assist is another step towards full autonomous drive—a key innovation area for Volvo.
