Volvo Cars is integrating and testing wireless charging technology in a live city environment together with selected partners, evaluating its potential for future electric cars. Last year, Volvo Cars took part in launching the Gothenburg Green City Zone initiative, which aims to achieve emission-free transport by 2030.

Mobilize will unveil Limo, a 4.67m four-door fully-electric sedan, specifically designed for for taxi/private hire (PHV) drivers and fleet, at Munich IAA Mobility 2021. The ride-hailing market (taxis et private hire vehicles, PHV) in Europe is booming; it is set to grow from €28 billion today, to €50 billion by 2030.

Ford detailed seven of the 13 new global electrified vehicles it plans to introduce in the next five years, including hybrid versions of the iconic F-150 pickup and Mustang in the US, a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) Transit Custom van in Europe and a fully electric SUV with an expected range of at least 300 miles (483 km) for customers globally.

The consortium will develop and demonstrate 110 road-worthy vehicles to be trialed in the two cities over 12 months, 40 of which will be smart electric vehicles. Part funding for the project has been requested from the regional development agency, Advantage West Midlands. 60 vehicles are planned for the London South East region.

E-Fan propulsion is provided by two electric motors with a combined power of 60 kW, each driving a ducted, variable pitch fan. The 250 V Lithium polymer batteries (40 Ah, 4V per cell) are made by KOKAM and are housed within the inboard part of the wings outside the cockpit and provided with venting and passive cooling.

The driver has three options when it comes to recharging: standard charge, quick charge and Quickdrop. It uses electric variable-rate power steering. The standard charge plug was launched last April in Hanover and will be suitable for recharging Renault’s forthcoming range of electric vehicles. The Kangoo ZE Concept.
