Toyota has launched the new model RAV4 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) ( earlier post ) through dealerships in Japan. The new RAV4 PHEV aims to boost the fun-to-drive appeal of RAV4, adopting the newly developed Toyota Hybrid System (THS II). The fifth generation RAV4 was released in April 2019.

Honda Motor Company will introduce a battery-electric vehicle (BEV) and a new plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) to the US market in 2012, said President & CEO Takanobu Ito in his mid-year address in Tokyo, Japan. The 3-row, 7-seat SUV weighs 5,059 lbs (2,295 kg) in its PHEV version (4,627 lbs/2,099 kg conventional), yet delivers the performance, handling and feel of a smaller luxury sporty sedan, even up and down twisty canyon roads.
