Mass production of the all-new 2023 Honda CR-V hybrid began at Honda of Canada Mfg. The CR-V hybrid features a new two-motor hybrid system produced at Honda’s Ohio Transmission Plant (TMP-O), and a newly refined Atkinson-cycle engine unique to hybrid models that is made at the Anna Engine Plant (AEP), also in Ohio.

Give me internal-combustion and real exhaust noise and a trunk – hatchbacks have too much utility for me! My biggest beef was noise – while loud exhaust noise is baked in (and reduces a bit when the car isn’t in a performance drive mode) – the sounds coming out of the rear intrude on conversation. Too tall, too expensive, too electric.

With arrest-me acceleration and an exhaust that will wake the neighbors -- even if you live next to a cemetery -- this bad-ass pony is an old-school throwback in the best way. Honda’s updated crossover continues to be a great yardstick for its segment.

The flat roof leads to LED tail lights, and twin faux exhaust ports on the lower fascia. The LED lighting and chromed exhaust ports give the whole package an upscale look that makes the price tag look like a bargain. The rear head and leg room easily could comfortably accommodate a six-foot plus person. Very European.
