In terms of market share, electrified vehicles represented 75% of all passenger cars registrations in Norway; 33% in Sweden; 31% in Finland; 22% in Netherlands; and 17% in Hungary. As EVs have increasingly become a viable alternative to gasoline and diesel cars, SUVs are now struggling in the competitive environment.

According to provisional data published by the European Environment Agency (EEA), the average CO 2 emissions from new passenger cars registered in the European Union (EU) in 2018 increased for the second consecutive year, reaching 120.4 grams of CO 2 per kilometer. For the first time, the average CO 2 emissions from new vans also increased.

Eleven EU Member States breached air pollution ceilings in 2015 mostly due to high emissions from agricultural and transport sources, according to new data and a briefing released by the European Environment Agency (EEA). Six Member States (Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Spain and Sweden) exceeded their NH 3 ceilings in 2015.

The European Community’s air pollutant emission inventory report released by the European Environment Agency finds that in 2007, sulphur oxides (SO x ) emissions were down by 72 % from 1990 levels. The largest Member States are generally responsible for the most air pollution.
