Fifteen countries have agreed to work together toward 100% zero-emission new truck and bus sales by 2040. The Global Agreement on Zero-Emission Trucks and Buses builds on previous action and ambition from key government leaders, including (but not limited to) California and the Netherlands.

The buses are expected to be deployed along 15 routes in Bogotá’s Fontibon district in 2021 and thereafter 150,000 residents along the routes will be able to enjoy pure electric and zero-emission transportation services. Along with the previously-announced 470 buses, the new batch includes 9m- and 12m-long buses.

In a new report, “ Electric Drive Buses ”, Pike finds that China market will constitute the majority of global electric drive bus sales, while some of the more developed markets will see fluctuations in electric bus uptake. North America is the leading market for this technology, with hybrids capturing 30% to 40% of annual transit bus sales.
