PowerCell Sweden AB has received the first marine order for two PowerCell S3 prototype stacks, which Swiss Hydrogen will install on a ship powered by photovoltaics. PowerCells’ partner Swiss Hydrogen is developing energy systems for a range of fuel cell applications.

A new European Joint Research Centre (JRC) study looking into the supply of raw materials for the manufacture of low-carbon energy technologies found that eight metals were at high risk of shortages. The applications, i.e. technologies, of particular concern as a result are electric vehicles, wind and solar energy, and lighting.

Audi’s e-Tron batteries are manufactured at a carbon-neutral facility.
