Norway-based Eltek Valere will deliver battery chargers to THINK City. The contract is the first result of Eltek Valere’s growth initiative for electric vehicle technologies, and shows new areas of application for the company’s core competencies. The THINK City is being produced in Valmet, Finland, and now is ready for orders.

Many of Norway's tycoons and heirs are making significant investments in the company which is planning production of as many as 10,000 cars by 2009. My first electric car was a Think City, produced when the company was owned by Ford. One such protest is documented in the film Who Killed the Electric Car?

The index was compiled for THINK by ASG Renaissance, a market research and business services firm located in Dearborn, Mich. The US EV-ready index mirrors one THINK developed for targeting markets in Europe, which recognized Oslo, Copenhagen and Amsterdam as the top-three markets. —Richard Canny.

Electric car maker THINK has completed a US$40 million equity increase to support further product development and planned expansion into North American markets. With the new equity, THINK says it is now fully funded and expects to become cash-flow positive in 2011. This is a seminal event for THINK.

Last week we told you how Think had expanded to Spain and now the Norwegian company has made several additional announcements at the Electric Vehicle Symposium in Norway. It confirmed that the Think City has been granted the first ever pan-European homologation certificate for an electric vehicle.

Finland-based Valmet Automotive, which signed a letter of intent under which Valmet Automotive will be a production and engineering partner for the Think City electric vehicle, will also become a minor shareholder in Think. The car already has a sales network in Europe and is ready for mass production.

The founders of Google have made personal investments in Tesla as befits dotcom billionaires, and they're converting Priuses to plug-in hybrids for the company fleet with battery maker A123. nk Global , the reinvigorated Norwegian electric car maker. I did, too, until Ford confiscated the cars and sold the company.
