While in EV Mode, the Prius Plug-in is rated by the EPA to drive up to 11 miles. During EV Mode driving, the Prius Plug-in is rated at 95 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent). This means that when the EV Mode is depleted, Prius Plug-in still obtains the same estimated fuel economy rating as Prius Liftback.

The 130 hybrids all will be deployed next year, with 30 going to New York and New Jersey and 100 to California. UPS estimates these vehicles will save 66,085 gallons of fuel and 671 metric tonnes of CO 2 annually, representing a 35% improvement in fuel economy.

Five new Prius Plug-in Hybrid vehicles (PHVs) will be used on city streets as part of Toyota’s partnership with the New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
