Ford unveiled the 2022 Ford Maverick compact pickup truck. Maverick comes as a standard five-passenger, four-door pickup, with a full-hybrid powertrain and a projected EPA-estimated rating of 40 mpg city fuel economy and 500 miles of range on a single tank of gas. —Todd Eckert, Ford truck group marketing manager.

Used Priuses, especially the Generation 2 that were made from 2004 to 2009 are becoming a bargain to buy, especially for the MPG and features you get in return. Huge leg space in front and back, just like in a Ford Mondeo or VW Passat. The official fuel consumption is 5 l/100 km (47 mpg US) and that is bang on for us as well.

Maybe Ford went with Maverick because it can mean “pursuing rebellious, even potentially disruptive, policies or ideas.” Ford has certainly done this by resurrecting the compact pickup genre that was once so popular in the 1960s-1980s.
