And since you can travel 440 miles without recharging, why wouldn’t you take a Silverado EV on that family road trip? Look ma, no hands!

Hyundai lanched the 2016 Hyundai Sonata Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle—Hyundai’s first plug-in hybrid vehicle—along with the hybrid version of the seventh-generation Sonata, at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Recharging takes as little as two and a half hours with a Level 2 charger.

In the wake of the Chevy Volt presentation by GM, my "plug-in hybrid" google alert has filled my inbox with reports from other automakers about their PHEV projects. Nancy Goia of Ford got some ink for comments at the Automotive News World Congress in Detroit. The buzz about the Volt has generated automaker PR reactions.

Hopefully the funding was from the same place as well… 2 Bill C said on March 13th, 2009 at 1:21 pm I think a few billion should be taken out of the Detroit bailout and give some capital to all of the electric car companies. 3 David Herron said on March 16th, 2009 at 12:31 am Fast recharge will require huge power levels.

Guess what, this company, picked up one of the old trdemarks and it will be manufactured under the name "Detroit Electric". Sure beats Detroit, same old, same old gas buggy, and anothe Purple PLUM, whoops PUMA, two wheel, or is 4wheel, kiddy car. The PUMA is just another example of the fact that Detroit, particularly GM, is clueless.
