Mazda began taking pre-orders for the facelifted Mazda Demio (known overseas as the Mazda2) at all Mazda, Mazda Anfini and Mazda Autozam dealers throughout Japan; the sales launch is scheduled for 30 June. By comparison, the Prius S model is rated at 35.5 SKYACTIV-13 Prius S. Demio SKYACTIV-13.

What is a surprise to us, was the rebound in sales of the Prius Prime, which was up 128% YOY. And as you can see from the chart below, the the Prius is heading toward 60% of its sales being for the Prime PHEV version. 4 was only beginning to reach US dealers. 4 (16,742) BEVs. For the year the Mach-E outsold the ID.4

The plug-in Prius is a separate model from the all new 2010 Prius Hybrid. The fleet models will be part of a test bed for Toyota and future development of the plug-in Prius may at some point lead to a consumer model. The plug-in Prius is expected to launch sometime in 2010.

Per the IRS: Beginning January 1, 2023, if you buy a qualified previously owned electric vehicle (EV) or fuel cell vehicle (FCV) from a licensed dealer for $25,000 or less, you may be eligible for a previously owned clean vehicle tax credit under Internal Revenue Code Section 25E. As long as they fit certain criteria.

If you walk into an auto dealer (of virtually any brand) located outside of the West Coast, chances are good that there will be zero or perhaps only one EV model available from the brand(s) that dealer represents. It is likely that their perception of an electric vehicle stems from being aware of the popular Toyota Prius hybrid.
