Out of 82 BEVs and PHEVs that are either currently available for sale in the US, or expected to be so by the end of 2022, 67 of them, or 81.7%, have a base manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) higher than $39,999, according to new analysis from EVAdoption. Fifteen or 18.3% have a base MSRP below $40,000 and 31 or 37.8%

But assuming you can get your hands on one, roughly two-dozen BEVs and PHEVs available for sale in the US this summer have a base manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of less than $45,000. Among electric vehicles from automakers that report specific sales numbers for their EV models, the Toyota RAV4 Prime PHEV was tops in the US in 2021 with 27,3707 units sold. Another top-selling EV beyond Tesla models that is not included is the Jeep Wrangler 4xe PHEV, which likely saw 2021 sales of between 20,000-25,000.
