Chevrolet will start selling the Spark EV in Maryland this spring, the electric mini-car’s first entry into the East Coast market. The Spark EV delivers an EPA-estimated combined city/highway 119 MPGe fuel economy equivalent and 82 miles of EPA-estimated combined city/highway range.

California and Maryland Spark EV owners may also qualify for a $2,500 California state rebate or $2,300 Maryland excise tax exemption. Additional Chevrolet bonus cash is also available: $1,000 in California, $1,200 in Maryland, and $3,500 in Oregon.

The contract, which was concluded with Montgomery County, Maryland, is the first major order for buses with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology received by Thomas Built Buses. In MY 2010 Thomas buses, SCR reduces NO x emissions to near zero and offers a fuel economy improvement. Each of the buses seats up to 90 students.
