By comparison, the 2013 Scion iQ EV is EPA-rated at 121 MPGe; the Honda Fit EV at 118 MPGe; the Fiat 500e at 116 MPGe; the i-MiEV at 112 MPGe; the Ford Focus Electric at 105 MPGe; and the smart fortwo electric at 107 MPGe. The battery system is capable of handling multiple DC Fast Charges daily.

The new Nissan quick chargers ( earlier post ) are engineered to the CHAdeMo standard and can deliver up to 50 kW of high voltage direct current (DC) electricity. The CHAdeMO—Charge to Move—standard was developed and agreed by a coalition of Japanese companies including Nissan, Toyota, Mitsubishi and Fuji Heavy Industries.

At least GM sent this nifty printed banner explaining all about the new J1772 industry standard recharging plug. The Mitsubishi i-MiEV, only here because SCE is testing it. It’s in fleet lease use in Japan already and I have confidence they’ll be producing them and selling them to actual people.
