Ford dealers are beginning to push back and drop out of the Model e electric vehicle sales program. million and would give dealers two DC fast chargers, priority in replenishing EV models, more exposure on Ford’s company website, and demo units, which could be sold. It has not gone according to plan for some.

Chevrolet dealerships in the initial launch markets of California, Connecticut, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Virginia and Washington, DC will be receiving dedicated Volt demonstration vehicles for customer test drives over the next few weeks. Chevy expects to deliver Volts in all 50 states by the end of 2011.

Chevrolet Volts have been delivered to customers in the Washington DC area, as well as California, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and Texas. Customers nationwide will be able to order Volts with participating dealers beginning in the second quarter. Customer deliveries in Michigan begin this spring.

Participating Chevrolet dealers in seven key launch markets across Canada have begun taking orders for the all-new 2012 Chevrolet Volt, with an MSRP starting at C$41,545 (US$43,568). By the end of the year, more than 2,500 US dealers will receive a dedicated Volt demo. The Volt is clearly bringing new customers to our dealership.

A Florida car dealer set a mission to drive 1,100 miles in a Toyota Prius, which had been modified as a plug-in hybrid, while burning as little petrol as possible. The trip was sponsored by Florida Toyota dealer Earl Stewart to show the need for clean emission vehicles. Why set yourself a mechanical challenge of course.

Nissan LEAF will be introduced to Texas and Hawaii shortly thereafter, in January 2011; North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland, South Carolina and Alabama follow in April 2011; and be rolled-out to the balance of the nation beginning in Fall 2011 with availability in all markets nationwide by the end of that year.
