Scientist have confirmed that unlike gasoline cars, plug-ins will get cleaner as they get older -- because our power grid is getting cleaner. A PHEV with only a 20-mile all-electric range is 62% lower (see printed page 95 in the 2004 study ). But theyve needed definitive proof that PHEVs wont increase pollution.

Price tag: about $25,000, made from 95% recyclable materials with a top speed of 65 miles per hour and range of 110 miles per charge. As soon as someone comes up with all day range (300 miles plus) or quick charge capability (less than 30-60 minutes) for a reasonable price (25k - 40k), electric cars will start to take over.
