Representatives from two major transit Authorities—Alameda County Transit (AC Transit) of California, and Metro Transit of Minneapolis, Minnesota—participated in the vehicle’s debut and demonstration. The bus is targeted to have a range greater than 250 miles without refueling or recharging.

The SOFC sub-system efficiently converts chemical energy in the ULSD fuel directly into useful electrical power. The demonstration, held at Cummins Power Generation facilities in Minneapolis, leveraged development supported by the US Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE).
