Tropos Motors has released the new eXtended Range, ABLE XR low-speed electric utility vehicle. With the largest capacity battery pack of LSVs on the market, the ABLE XR can travel up to 45+ mph (72+ km/h), and up to 160 miles (at 25 mph), as well as tow a max of 2000 pounds on public roads, or 3000 pounds on closed campuses.

At the Advanced Automotive Battery Conference 2009 (AABC 2009) earlier this year, EIG described a prototype lithium-ion battery system targeted at a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) application. The Caliber ReEv accelerates from 0-60 mph in 8.3 seconds and has a top speed of 84 mph (135 km/h). kWh useable energy.

Their paper was presented at the ASME Internal Combustion Engine Division 2012 Fall Technical Conference by Marcello Canova, assistant professor at OSU; lead author was Philipp Skarke, from the University of Stuttgart Institute for Internal Combustion Engines and Automotive Engineering. kW and about 27 kW at constant velocity of 65 mph.

The so-called Extended Range Electric Vehicle or EREV or BEVx. This concept is basically a PHEV with a smaller “range-extended liquid-fuel-powered electric generator.” These concepts, working together, can then provide a seamless transition from fossil to renewable energy. The BMW-i3 and the Renault Kangoo are examples.
