In an effort to encourage the development and uptake of green vehicles including heavy and light duty vehicles, two- and three-wheelers and quadricycles, the European Commission has released a new strategy.

Singapore will implement a new Carbon Emissions-Based Vehicle Scheme (CEV) on 1 January 2012, providing rebates to qualified new cars, taxis, and imported used cars with low carbon emissions, and imposing an equivalent surcharge on higher emitting vehicles.

Los Angeles-based start-up, Hybrid Kinetic Motors (HK Motors) has announced plans to construct a new green-vehicle manufacturing plant in Baldwin County, Alabama in the US. The firm has set an ambitious target of offer a full-range of hybrid vehicles with production set to start by 2013.
