The batteries for electric vehicles and for other appliances cells are assembled in modules and packs which depends on what materials these are made of and how they are manufactured, also affect the battery’s CO2 footprint and climate impact. CCS at the current level of efficiency and from an integrated system point of view, however, will only have a small net CO2 mitigation impact of 475 million tonnes in 2050. The total national CO2 emissions mitigation potential of moving from a CIS to AIS trajectory of development is 3.8 billion tonnes in 2027.

In addition, it is subject to similar refining, storage and distribution costs currently associated with petrol and diesel, including upstream CO2 emissions where the electricity required is usually generated from fossil fuels. If taken from such sources, hydrogen is a fossil fuel, and is not a renewable resource.

South Korea did that and Australia is going to be doing that. Generating electricity from wind and geothermal rather than a CO2 producing sources would help alleviate that problem. The intolerable act is to pretend that making cars into plug-ins will reduce CO2. We are facing a big problem with global warming.
