We’ve got big solar coming and big wind too, but those projects are not built yet and neither are the transmission lines to connect them to the grid. Seems like a perfect use for some stimulus money, don’t it? We cannot afford to wait for them and we don’t have to. I’m ready to start right now.

The treasure chest was cleverly disguised in the form of Federal stimulus money from the ARRA, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. But snatching victory from the jaws of defeat – like a last second Derek Fisher three pointer at the buzzer – as I discovered from Brian Gitt, is the infusion of ARRA stimulus money.

The dots that other folks were failing to even see, already looked pre-connected to me - like those incredibly real artificial Christmas trees with the lights already set in place and ready to plug-in. And when it comes to a sense of urgency on climate change, well lets just say I saw no physical sign that Ted is out of his coma yet.

And I felt a kindred connection with him after reading about his experiences putting solar PV on his roof. Ann Livingston is the Sustainability Coordinator of the county and the woman in charge of their Climate Smart program. I knew he was effective working with cities on energy and sustainability projects.
