Petrol heads and EV cynics can’t stand the fact that multiple governments all over the world are phasing out Internal Combustion Engine Vehicles and promoting EV’s to achieve oil independence and promote clean air for their citizens. In the early 2000's there was the “Euro 1” emission standard. Absolutely not.

This is partly because the sector has grown more than expected and partly because vehicle emission standards have not always delivered the anticipated level of NO x reductions. Some Member States, such as the Netherlands and Slovenia, expect to exceed their respective NO x ceilings by only small margins (less than 5%).

Slovenia, Iceland, the Netherlands, Ireland, India, Denmark, Sweden, Israel, Germany and the United Kingdom all have 2030 deadlines. We see an ICE-ban as a complementary policy which needs to sit alongside a comprehensive suite of measures, including emissions standards, consumer incentives and coordinated infrastructure investment.
