US EPA awards $50M for clean diesel projects

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded $50 million for clean diesel projects. While EPA’s standards significantly reduce emissions from newly manufactured engines, clean diesel projects funded through these grants will work to address the more than 11 million older diesel engines that continue to emit higher levels of harmful pollution. The grant-supported clean diesel projects have cleaned or replaced more than 50,000 vehicles and equipment nationwide.

Nonprofit organizations may apply if they provide pollution reduction or educational services to diesel fleet owners or promote air quality and clean transportation. The maximum amount of federal funding that may be requested per application varies by Region: Region 1 (Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont) will accept applications requesting up to $1,000,000 in grant funds.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the availability of $26 million in grant funding to establish clean diesel projects aimed at reducing emissions from the US’ existing fleet of diesel engines. Grant funds may be used for clean diesel projects that use: EPA-verified retrofit technologies or certified engine configurations. Virgin Islands): EPA is requesting proposals between $500,000 and $1,800,000.
