According to the latest US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) fuel economy report, Hyundai passed all major manufacturers in MY 2009 Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) as measured in EPA testing. Hyundai is also the only automaker to top 30 mpg for cars and trucks combined in the report. Volkswagen.

The rulemaking is expected to include several elements important to automakers, including: Preserving Vehicle Diversity: Harmonized NHTSA and EPA standards would be attribute-based, or based on a vehicle’s footprint. The debate over who sets CO 2 and fuel economy standards for autos has been decided, but there is still more to talk about.
