We’ve now got some Mo going with: California solar loan financing that will eliminate the big up front cost of solar. With the coming solar feed-in tariff legislation moving through Sacramento that will pay us for the extra solar energy we produce and feed back into the grid.

If you charge with solar, is way less. The small electric will be king and batteries a valuable commodity, so valuable in fact, they will have to be wielded in to prevent theft by the Solar, Wind, Wave, Tidal, folks for their home installations! We need to stop BURNING fuel in our cars. Batteries last a lot longer now and are recycled.

If you build a car as a "kit car" with no real factory, then yes, it will never be an economic success. Plus you can use solar and break technology, as well as other more experimental technology, and never have to charge it because it would then charge itself. The EV1s failure was a failure of Management.
