The project will deploy 502 alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles through 119 public and private fleets throughout the state. The program includes the installation of 10 alternative fuel refueling sites (two B20, one Electric Recharging, and seven CNG). Clean Energy Coalition’s CEC Michigan Green Fleets Initiative.

Additionally, the campaign has gained more than 8,000 “soft” fleet orders for these vehicles when they are available. Plug-in vehicles would combine today’s new electric-flex fuel (gas and/or biofuels such as ethanol) hybrid technology with a larger battery that could be recharged by plugging it into a standard wall sockets.

The project includes quick-charging stations at this terminal layover in route to recharge bus batteries. Grid sourced electrical energy used to recharge the bus batteries will be augmented with solar energy collected with panels procured and installed under this project. Chicago Transit Authority, Illinois: $1,500,000.

The Plug-In Partners campaign has now surpassed 6,000 fleet orders. Soft” fleet orders are a critical component of the Plug-In Partners goal of demonstrating to automakers that a market exists for flexible fuel plug-in hybrids. As fleet orders increase, city governments around the country also continue to join the coalition.

And when we talk about fleet, of course that’s a very broad group. So that’s fleet. Now you’re putting fuel into your fleet vehicles as a zero unit.
