The suggested retail price for the Volt will start at $39,995 (or $32,495 assuming a full federal tax credit of $7,500, which is subject to the customer’s eligibility). Five-year/100,000-mile* limited gas engine coverage.

I think that’s fair since on a good day my 3 ½-year-old Chevrolet Volt has a 61-mile all-electric range, roughly comparable to a used Nissan Leaf or Fiat 500e. On top of that, I’m currently running at 80+% electric miles. Still turning in max EV miles. The cars Californians choose set the tone for EV sales for 2021.

Out of 82 BEVs and PHEVs that are either currently available for sale in the US, or expected to be so by the end of 2022, 67 of them, or 81.7%, have a base manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) higher than $39,999, according to new analysis from EVAdoption.
