Currently only two EVs in the US are made in China, the Polestar 2 and Volvo S90 Recharge Plug-in Hybrid. This important SUV for us will be built in the USA for U.S. But with these increased tariffs, that makes it less likely that US consumers will gain access to these cheap, high-tech Chinese EVs.

Cheap to run but expensive to buy, they offer theprospect of low or zero carbon emissions, but manufacturers won’t sell themunless motorists want to buy them – and motorists won’t buy unless the priceis right and there are enough places to charge the batteries.
