In a pre-response to that speech, having successfully advocated for plug-in hybrids like the forthcoming Chevy Volt, we propose that the President follow that speech up with a “realistic and conservative” roadmap to halve our oil use in 10 years. Oil is holding us all hostage, economically and physically. Finally, it’s time to begin.

Given the cost of oil and the economic, geopolitical and ecological effects of our continued reliance on petroleum, electric transportation will be cheap. As a civilization, we have committed ourselves to electricity and we must make cleaner electricity. New investments in battery technology and production are announced daily.

Part movie spaceship, part oil independence klaxon, the sound fills the cabin and certainly wont appeal to everyone. I also think it will be cheap, which is why I think someone will buy the group. As more renewables come online, battery electrics just keep getting cleaner and greener. Luckily, the sound is kind of cool.
