The first Audi Q8 e-tron drove off the production line at the Brussels plant yesterday, 14 December, marking the beginning of an era for the new top model in Audi’s electric SUV range. Among other things, Audi Brussels installed one of the region’s largest photovoltaic systems on the plant premises, covering 107,000 square meters.

It’s all part of the Chinese brand’s ambitious plan to set up three brands in Europe and launch three new models for each brand, all by 2026 – yet, unfortunately, Chery wants to bring ICE vehicles along with its low-cost EVs, including a luxury gas-burning SUV brand that it already sells in China.

The SUV concept vehicle is based on the modular architecture for luxury- and executive-class electric vehicles from Mercedes-Benz and takes the exclusivity of Maybach into a locally emission-free future. According to WLTP, ranges of around 600 kilometers (373 miles) are planned for the Mercedes EQS SUV architecture.
