At the 2023 Indianapolis 500 on May 28 in Indianapolis, Indiana, all 33 cars will be running on Shell 100-percent renewable biofuel, using carbon neutral motor oil, and rolling on Firestone Firehawk tires made with recycled plastics. Not so much as you would think, especially with technology changing fast.

Partly in order to change this situation, Steiner purchased Waverley Electrics , a firm founded in 1896 by Albert Augustus Pope that manufactured the electric Waverley vehicle in Indianapolis from 1898 until 1916. “I So I never went through with it.”

The collaboration, forged by the White House in partnership with DOE and the Department of Transportation (DOT), the US Air Force and US Army, and the Environmental Protection Agency, is centered on a set of Guiding Principles to Promote Electric Vehicles and Charging Infrastructure. 46 organizations have signed on to the principles so far.

The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities will receive funding to purchase battery electric buses, associated charging infrastructure and a back-up generator to maintain bus service in a disaster situation. The charging infrastructure is an integral part of PSTA's long-term battery electric bus program.
