That event was meant to show that the new company, a combination of the old Fiat Chrysler Automobiles with Europe’s Peugeot Citroën, had the plans to electrify its model line that FCA conspicuously lacked. The e-motor also provides regenerative braking to recharge the battery, and there’s an integrated 33 kW (44 hp) starter-generator as well.

We’re showing 100 percent charge and a range of 475km. Except there’s no wireless phone charging, annoyingly. Day 4: Let’s charge. Charging speed is a sloth-like 1.92kW. 2022 Porsche Taycan RWD – easier to charge parked this way around. Or, Porsche, please make the charge cable longer.

The three leading new options to re-supply our autos with energy are charging at home, battery swap stations and fast charge stations. The method that should seem most natural is charging at home. If cost is an important consideration, than charging your EV at home is a no-brainer as it cuts out any profit-hungry middlemen.

The new plug-in vehicle will be able to exceed highway speed limits, go 100 miles on a charge and recharge in four to eight hours using a 220-volt line, similar to those for clothes dryers, said Mark Perry, director of product planning for Nissan North America.

The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles.
