That event was meant to show that the new company, a combination of the old Fiat Chrysler Automobiles with Europe’s Peugeot Citroën, had the plans to electrify its model line that FCA conspicuously lacked. The e-motor also provides regenerative braking to recharge the battery, and there’s an integrated 33 kW (44 hp) starter-generator as well.

That said, if that’s your typical daily commute, it’s easy to see how plugging in overnight would give you all the juice you need. The Taycan RWD shares the other Taycans’ 800-volt electric drive system for ultra rapid recharging, but sadly there’s no 350kW charger anywhere near to my home. More good news today.

If we wanted to recharge this from 110V domestic service we would need to pull 10,800,000/110 = 96,000 amps. Chrysler used this for their EPIC Minivan and could charge at a rate of about one mile per minute. A vehicle with a 200 mile range like the Tesla Roadster would easily be able to do the trip with one recharge.

As part of the solution framework, the Israeli government will provide tax incentives to customers, Renault will supply the electric vehicles, and Project Better Place will construct and operate an Electric Recharge Grid across the entire country. Chrysler alone, for instance, may have 3 different battery pack shapes in its upcoming models. Please feel free to tell us what you believe to be the benefits of some of the various recharging modes mentioned above in the comments section below. I would prefer to recharge at home, and could do so.

The new plug-in vehicle will be able to exceed highway speed limits, go 100 miles on a charge and recharge in four to eight hours using a 220-volt line, similar to those for clothes dryers, said Mark Perry, director of product planning for Nissan North America.

The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles. A simple, clean, efficient EV that wont run out of juice because of its on-board gas generator. The car is expected to cost around $40,000.
