The Golden State previously launched "cash for clunkers" programs that incentivized the retirement of older, higher-polluting cars. California may soon expand a program aimed at helping lower-income individuals switch to more efficient cars.

Compared to the engine and transmission technologies discussed above, there has been far less growth in the production shares of hybrid and diesel powertrains and cylinder deactivation (CD). The number of non-hybrid SUVs that achieved 25 mpg increased from four in MY 2008 to 17 in MY 2013, more than a four-fold increase.

Both conventional hybrids and diesel vehicles have increased market share slightly since MY 2007. The bulk of this production share is accounted for by non-hybrid gasoline vehicles, although other technologies, including hybrids, electric vehicles, and diesel vehicles are also represented.

In a pre-response to that speech, having successfully advocated for plug-in hybrids like the forthcoming Chevy Volt, we propose that the President follow that speech up with a “realistic and conservative” roadmap to halve our oil use in 10 years. We’re happy we’re well on our way with plug-in cars. We can upgrade vehicles too.

It initiated the start of the "Plug-in Arizona Educational Tour" for educating one AZ County at a time! Interestingly enough, the Automotive Class is "into" the study of hybrids at this time. And of course, now Plug-ins for extra credit! A plug and a pack can make a car a 101 MPG vehicle aided by electricity. !
